Privacy Policy

Overview

LilBits ("the App") is developed by Fueled by Digital. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Here is an explicit list of every type of data LilBits collects or processes:

• Pet profiles — names, species, breed, coat color, age, weight category, and care history. Stored in your private iCloud container via Apple CloudKit. We cannot access this data.
• Voice recordings — optional audio clips you record within the App (e.g., your pet's name or sounds). These are stored in your private iCloud container. We cannot access, listen to, or process these recordings.
• Memorial data — if you create a memorial for a pet who has passed, the memorial details (dates, notes, photos) are stored in your private iCloud container. We cannot access this data.
• Room & pet customizations — room layouts, color themes, and display preferences. Stored locally on your device and synced via your private iCloud container.
• Sign in with Apple — when you sign in, Apple provides us with a unique user ID, your name, and an email address (which may be a private relay address). We use this solely to associate your data with your account.
• Email address (opt-in only) — if you choose to subscribe to updates, your email is stored in our CRM (HubSpot) and used to send care reminders and product updates via our email provider (Resend). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email or from within the App.
• Notification preferences — if you enable push notifications for care reminders (feeding, etc.), your notification settings are stored locally on your device. We use Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to deliver reminders. We do not store your device token on our servers beyond what APNs requires.
• Dynamic Island & Live Activities — the App uses Apple's ActivityKit to display your pet on the Dynamic Island and Lock Screen. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.
• Anonymous usage data — starting with version 1.6, the App records anonymous, aggregated usage events (such as opening the App or creating a pet) via Aptabase to help us improve LilBits. This data is not linked to your identity, contains no personal information or device advertising identifiers, and can be turned off at any time in Settings → Share anonymous usage. See the Analytics section for details.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not use advertising SDKs, ad networks, or tracking pixels, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. (LilBits does collect anonymous, non-identifying usage analytics — see the Analytics section below.)
• We do not collect location data.
• We do not collect device identifiers for advertising purposes.
• We do not build user profiles for targeted advertising.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party.

Advertising

LilBits does not currently display ads. If we introduce advertising in the future, ads will never appear on pet profiles, memorial screens, or other personal/sensitive areas. Any ad revenue would be donated to pet rescue charities. We will never use behavioral targeting or share your data with advertisers.

Analytics

Starting with version 1.6, LilBits collects anonymous usage data to understand how the App is used and to improve it. We use Aptabase, a privacy-first, open-source analytics service. In Apple's App Privacy terms, this is Usage Data that is not linked to your identity:

• We record anonymous, aggregated events — such as opening the App, creating a pet, or changing a theme. We never record the content of your pets, photos, voice recordings, or memorials.
• Aptabase uses no account IDs, no advertising identifiers (IDFA), and no cross-app or cross-website tracking. Because it does not track you, it does not trigger Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
• Alongside each event, Aptabase records general technical context such as app version, operating system version, device model, and country. None of this identifies you personally.
• This is opt-out: you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Share anonymous usage. When it is off, no analytics events are sent.

iCloud & CloudKit

All pet data is stored in your private iCloud container through Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. This data is end-to-end managed by Apple and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your private CloudKit data. If you opt in to email updates, a record of your email preference is stored in CloudKit's public database to manage your subscription status.

Third-Party Services

LilBits uses the following third-party services:

• Apple CloudKit — private data storage (governed by Apple's privacy policy)
• Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — care reminders (if you enable notifications)
• HubSpot — email subscriber management (opt-in only)
• Resend — email delivery for care reminders and product updates (opt-in only)
• Aptabase — privacy-first, anonymous product analytics (usage events only; no personal data, no identifiers, no cross-app tracking)

None of these services receive your pet data, voice recordings, or memorial content.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Period. The only data that leaves your device is: what Apple transmits via CloudKit (your iCloud data); if you opt in, your email address for subscriber management; and, unless you turn it off, anonymous usage analytics that are not linked to your identity (see the Analytics section).

Children's Privacy

LilBits does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@lilbits.app and we will promptly delete it.

Data Deletion

You can delete your data in the following ways:

• In-app: Go to Your Pets → Delete my cloud data to remove all pet data from your iCloud container.
• Uninstall: Deleting the App removes all locally stored data from your device.
• Email unsubscribe: Click the unsubscribe link in any email, or email support@lilbits.app to request removal from our mailing list.
• Full account deletion: Email support@lilbits.app to request complete deletion of all data associated with your account, including any email subscriber records.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the App or email (if you are subscribed).
